Texel paints pixel art straight onto your models inside Blender — and animates it. It fixes the two things that go wrong when 2D pixel art meets a mesh: strokes that come out as staircases, and pixels that change size from one face to the next.

What it does:

  • Pixel-perfect strokes. A freehand drag lands clean, with no doubled corners to pick out by hand.
  • Texel density, measured. Reports px/unit across a mesh, rescales UVs to a target, and snaps UVs to texel corners.
  • Tiles that actually tile. Wraps a texture against itself and scores the seam before you commit it.
  • Indexed colour. A 256-entry palette. Swap it and every surface recolours instantly and exactly.
  • Selection transforms. Flip, rotate and scale a selection by nearest neighbour — nothing is interpolated between two palette indices, and the mask turns with the art, so a wand selection survives a rotation as its own shape. New in v0.2.0.
  • Cel animation. Frames and tracks, onion skin, bound to Blender’s timeline. Export a sheet plus JSON, or a GIF.
  • 95 operators, every one with a button in the sidebar, and nine on keys you can rebind in Blender’s own keymap editor.

With your purchase you get:

  • The add-on as a Blender extension zip. Install from disk, no dependencies.
  • Full source, GPL-3.0. Your artwork is yours, commercial use included.
  • The test suite it was built against, so you can run it yourself.
  • A weekly release cycle. Pixelkiln ships Texel every Wednesday, and every update is free forever — no v2, no subscription, no pro tier. The price rises at named milestones, but never for anyone who already owns it.

Requirements. Blender 4.2 or newer. Measured against 4.2.23, 4.5.9, 5.2.1 and the Microsoft Store build — all four pass. Tested on Windows only: it is platform-independent Python, but I have not tested macOS or Linux and will not claim it. GIF export needs ffmpeg on PATH; sheet and JSON export need nothing.
